Damper, Steering: Removal: Bracket

NOTE:

Some early built right hand drive vehicles may have a damper with the mounting stud on the damper instead of on the bracket. If the mounting stud is on the damper, the damper and link bracket must be replaced as a kit, and the replacement damper will be different.

  1. Place the front wheels in a straight ahead position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the damper (2). Refer to DAMPER, STEERING, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the nut and bolt (5) from the linkage bracket (4).
    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to spread the bracket to fit over the tube.

  5. Slide the bracket (4) to the tie rod tube end and remove from tie rod tube.
