Converter, Catalytic: Installation: 3.2L: Notes
FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTER
- If new gaskets need replacing, position new gasket onto the manifold flange. Loosely install the lower bolt.
- Position the catalytic converter (3) against the manifold.
- Install the upper flange bolts. Tighten all the bolts (1) to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.).
- Position the cross-under pipe (1) to the catalytic converter. Tighten the nuts (1) to 26 N.m (19 ft. lbs.).
- Install the support bolt (5). Tighten to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.).NOTE:
Using care, do not to twist or kink the oxygen sensor wires.
- Reconnect the electrical connectors (1, 2).
- If removed, install the oxygen sensors (3, 5). Tighten the sensors to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.).
- Install the belly pans (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
- Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
