Section 17 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Installation: 3.2L

- Carefully position the generator (1) up to the engine block.
- Loosely install the top two generator mounting bolts (1).
- Install the lower generator mounting bolt (3).
- Position the A/C compressor (2) to the engine. Tighten the bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper engine mount bolts (2, 3). Tighten mount to mount bracket bolts (2, 3) to 72 N.m (53 ft. lbs.).
- Install the fuel line (2) at the fuel rail.
- Install the air filter housing body (1). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION
.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Tighten the generator mounting retainers to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
- Install the generator B+ cable (3) on the generator stud.
- Install the B+ cable nut (2), and tighten to 4 N.m (36 In. lbs.).
- Connect the field generator harness Connector (1).
- Install the belly pan (1).
- Partially lower the vehicle.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .
- Install the wheel.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
- Start the engine and verify the generator is operating properly.
