Section 6 (Steering System): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) is standard equipment and it is the only steering system available. The EPS system consists of these major components:
- Rack and pinion steering gear with EPS assist
- Steering column
- Inner and outer tie rod ends
NOTE:
The EPS system is a dry gear system. The EPS system does not contain any hydraulic components such as:
- Belt-driven hydraulic pump.
- High-pressure hydraulic hoses.
- Power steering fluid.
The EPS system will not experience a hydraulic leak. If fluid is detected at the front of the vehicle, on or near the steering gear, investigate other systems.
