Injector, Diesel Exhaust Fluid: Installation

  1. Inspect the opening of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) mixer tube and make sure the opening is NOT  plugged or restricted with the build up of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) crystals (1). If the mixer tube opening is plugged or restricted clean as necessary.

  2. Inspect the opening of the DEF dosing injector and make sure there is NOT  plugged or restricted with the build up of DEF crystals (1). If the DEF dosing injector opening is plugged or restricted clean as necessary.

  3. Clean the gasket sealing area.
  4. Install a NEW  DEF dosing injector (2) gasket (1).

  5. Install the DEF injector (2) onto SCR catalyst. Tighten the clamp (1) to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.).

  6. Connect the DEF fluid supply line (1).
  7. Connect the DEF injector wire harness connector (3).
  8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:

    Whenever the DEF injector is being replaced the injection of DEF needs to be measured.

  10. Using the scan tool, perform DEF Dosing Injection Quantity  function found under SYSTEM TESTS.
