Section 38 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Installation: 3.6L

  1. Position the generator (1) onto the engine mounting bracket.
  2. Install the lower mounting bolt and the two upper mounting bolts (3) to generator (1). Tighten bolts to 42 N.m (31 ft. lbs.).
  3. Connect the field wire connector (3) to the generator.
  4. Install B+ terminal and nut to generator mounting stud. Tighten nut to 10 N.m (88.5 in. lbs.).
  5. Snap the plastic protective cover over the B+ terminal.

  6. Install the wiring harness (1) retainer onto the upper frame rail.
  7. Install the upper radiator hose (3) to the radiator.
  8. Install the coolant supply line to the heater supply line.
  9. Fill the cooling system.
  10. Raise the vehicle.

  11. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .
  12. Install the inner splash shield.
  13. Install the right front wheel.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Connect negative battery cable, tighten nut to 4.5 N.m (40 in. lbs.).
  16. Start the engine and verify the generator is functioning properly.
