Removal And Installation
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to the appropriate Service Information
.
- Disconnect the DEF fluid supply line VOSS connector (1). Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injector wire harness connector (2).
- Disconnect the coolant hoses (3) from the injector.
- Saturate the DEF injector bolt with Mopar® Rust Inhibitor. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Loosen the clamp (4a) and remove the DEF injector (4b) from the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst.
INSTALLATION
- Inspect the opening of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) mixer tube and make sure the opening is NOT plugged or restricted with the build up of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) crystals. If the mixer tube opening is plugged or restricted clean as necessary.
- Inspect the opening of the DEF dosing injector and make sure there is NOT
plugged or restricted with the build up of DEF crystals. If the DEF dosing injector opening is plugged or restricted clean as necessary.
- Clean the gasket sealing area.
- Install a NEW
DEF dosing injector gasket (A).
- Install the DEF injector (1a) and tighten the clamp (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the coolant hoses (2) and securely tighten the clamps.
- Connect the DEF injector wire harness connector (3).
- Connect the DEF fluid supply line (4).
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.NOTE:
Whenever the DEF injector is being replaced the injection of DEF needs to be measured.
- Using the scan tool, perform DEF Dosing Injection Quantity function found under SYSTEM TESTS.
