Sensor, Oxygen: Removal: 6.2L: Upstream

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    WARNING:

    The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.

    CAUTION:

    When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.

  3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1) and remove the harness from the retainer (2).
  4. Remove the oxygen sensor (3) from the exhaust manifold.
  5. Clean the threads in the exhaust pipes using an appropriate tap.
