Remote Compass Module (RCM)
REMOTE COMPASS MODULE (RCM)
| Refer to COMPONENT INDEX . |
LIN Inputs
- Vehicle in motion status if vehicle speed is greater than 5 MPH
- Vehicle configuration compass mounting orientation
- Vehicle configuration compass mounting angle
- Calibration requests from BCM according to IPC or radio requests
LIN Outputs
- Compass direction
- RAW compass direction

The RCM uses an ignition switched source of battery current so its features only operate with the ignition switch in the ON or ACC positions. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON/ACC position, the RCM display will return to the last function being displayed before the ignition was turned to the OFF position.
The RCM system includes several different components that communicate over the Controller Area Network (CAN) and Local Interface Network (LIN) data buses. If the RCM system is ineffective, a diagnostic scan tool and the appropriate diagnostic information must be used to diagnose the system and the related data buses.
