Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

In any instance where a bolt is through a rubber bushing, the bolt must be torqued with the vehicle at normal ride height.

NOTE:

The paint dot located on the control arm should face outboard. If paint dot is not visible, the bend should point inboard, and the short end should attach to the axle side.

NOTE:

All upper control arm bolts must be installed inboard to outboard.

  1. Position the upper control arm to the axle bracket and frame rail bracket.

  2. Install the upper control arm front bolt (1) and the upper control arm front nut but do not tighten at this time.

  3. Align the flag nut inside the frame and install the upper control arm rear bolt (1) but do not tighten at this time.
  4. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  5. Tighten the upper control arm rear bolt (1) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Hold the nut and tighten the upper control arm front bolt to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Position the heat shield (2) to the frame.
  8. Install the two heat shield bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Perform the wheel alignment procedure. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT .
