Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the upstream oxygen sensor. Refer to SENSOR, OXYGEN, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the fasteners (1a) and (1b), and the exhaust heat shield (1c).
  5. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .

  6. Remove the retaining clips (1a) and disconnect the transmission oil cooler line (1b).
  7. Plug and seal the ends of the transmission cooler and lines to prevent oil leakage and moisture, contaminants, or impurities from entering the system.

  8. Release the tabs (1a) and remove the pressurized coolant bottle (1b).

  9. Disconnect the resistor wire harness connector (1a).
  10. Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1b).
  11. Detach the wire harness retainer (1c) from the fan shroud.
  12. Open the retainers (2b) and detach the cooler lines from the retainer.

  13. Release the retaining brackets (1a) and remove the cooling fan (1b).
