Key Transponder Programming

All keys or Frequency Operated Button with Integrated Key (FOBIK) units included with the vehicle are pre-programmed to work with the Radio Frequency Hub (RFH) when the vehicle is shipped from the factory. The RFH can be programmed to recognize up to a total of eight key or FOBIK transponder units. When programming a blank transponder, the mechanical key must first be cut to match the ignition lock cylinder (if equipped) or the FOBIK mechanical key must be cut to match the door lock cylinder in the vehicle for which it will be used. Once the mechanical key has been cut, the RFH must be programmed to recognize it as a valid key transponder. To program the RFH to recognize a new or additional valid key transponder, the Secured Access Method must be used. The details of this programming method can be found under FOBIK Programming  elsewhere in this service information using the link that follows. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE . This procedure will require logging into DealerCONNECT to obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and enter the PIN when requested. The PIN is temporary and will be active for 12 hours. After 12 hours, a new PIN will need to be obtained from DealerCONNECT.
