Sensor, Differential Pressure: Operation
The Differential Pressure Sensor (DPS) monitors the differential pressure of the Gas Particulate Filter (GPF) to provide information about its charge status. Consequently, the DPS provides the foundation for a demand-based, fuel-efficient concept for GPF regeneration. The DPS is critical for fail-safe of the regeneration strategy because it interprets high pressure drops as possible high soot loads.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) evaluates the DPS data to control the burning process with maximum precision. Another differential pressure for controlling the recirculated exhaust gas mass is located in the low-pressure exhaust-gas recirculation circuit.
