Right Balance Shaft

CAUTION:

Always replace the balance shaft bearings whenever the balance shaft is removed. The bearing assembly clasp may have worn which if reused can result in the bearing assembly lifting off the balance shaft journal during balance shaft installation which will cause subsequent engine failure.

  1. Apply clean engine oil to the NEW  balance shaft bearings.
  2. Install the balance shaft bearings (1) on the balance shaft (2).

  3. Install the right balance shaft assembly (1a) into the engine block and tighten the retaining bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
  4. If removed, install the balance shaft sprocket. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  5. Install the engine oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
