Oil Pump Drive Chain Guide

  1. Check the correct timing of the engine crankshaft (1a) reference (1b) has to be at 6 o'clock as shown in illustration (No. 1 cylinder piston at top-dead-center).

  2. Install the oil pump drive chain guide (2) in position.

  3. Starting from the crankshaft sprocket, position the two painted chain links (1b) at the reference mark (1a).

  4. Position the balance shaft sprocket so the reference mark (1a) aligns with the painted chain link (1b).

  5. Position the engine oil pump sprocket so the reference mark (1a) aligns with the painted chain link (1b).

  6. Install the screws (1a) fastening the oil pump drive chain guide (1b) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
  7. Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  9. Install the timing chain cover. Refer to INSTALLATION  .
  10. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL - STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  11. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level.
