Cam Chain Guide

  1. Remove the timing chain cover. Refer to REMOVAL  .

  2. Using a paint pen or equivalent, mark chain links (2) corresponding to crankshaft sprocket timing mark (3).

  3. Using a paint pen or equivalent, mark both camshaft sprocket timing marks (1 and 2) and corresponding chain links to aid in reassembly.

  4. Use the cam chain tensioner arm (2) to push in the tensioner piston and insert the (special tool #8514A, Pins, Tensioner) (1) to hold the tensioner piston in the retracted position. If the pin can not be inserted, the tensioner will have to be reset. Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Remove the bolts (2) and remove the cam chain guide (3).
