Converter, Catalytic: Removal: 3.2L: Notes

FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTER

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the lower engine belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .

  3. Disconnect the upstream (1) and down stream oxygen sensor harness connectors (2).

  4. Separate the cross-under pipe (4) from the front catalytic converter.

  5. Remove the converter to support bracket bolt (2).
  6. Remove the catalytic converter to cylinder head flange upper bolts (1).
  7. Remove the catalytic converter (3) by lifting and sliding the flange up and away from the cylinder head.
  8. If required, remove the oxygen sensors.
