Section 2 (2.4L Engine (Service Information)): Lubrication: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
The lubrication system features pressure regulated full flow filtration. The Balance Shaft Module (BSM) is mounted below the ladder frame and chain driven by the crankshaft. The BSM consists of a non-serviceable pump, oil pressure relief valve, and a non-serviceable balance assembly.
The lubrication system consists of the following components:
- Pressure relief valve in the BSM that controls system pressure
- Oil cooler mounted between the oil filter and the engine block
- Four piston oil cooler jets mounted to the engine block
- Filter screen for the Variable Valve Actuation Assembly (VVAA) mounted between the cylinder block and the cylinder head
- VVAA that uses pressurized engine oil to open the intake valves
- Oil pressure sensor located on the engine block
- Oil temperature sensor located on the VVAA
