Cable, Shift: Adjustments: Adjustment
- Park the vehicle on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Using (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the front trim (3) covering the console fasteners.
- Pry up on shifter bezel (1) using (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent to detach it from the console bezel.NOTE:
Do not remove the shifter bezel, as it will fit through the opening in the console bezel when it is removed.
- Place the shifter in the Neutral position by manually releasing the Brake Ignition Transmission Shift Interlock (BITSI). Refer to SHIFT, BRAKE INTERLOCK, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Using (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, separate the console bezel (1) and disconnect the electrical connectors (2).
- Place the gearshift lever in Park (P) and remove ignition key.
- Loosen the cable adjustment screw (3) at the shifter end of the cable.
- Pull the gearshift lever fully forward to the park detent position.
- Release the park brake, then rock the vehicle to assure it is in park. Reset the park brake.
- Tighten the cable adjustment screw to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Verify adjustment by using the verification procedure.
- Place the shifter in the Neutral position by manually releasing the Brake Ignition Transmission Shifter Interlock (BITSI). Refer to SHIFT, BRAKE INTERLOCK, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Insert the shifter bezel through the console bezel (1).
- Connect the console bezel electrical connectors (2).
- Install the console bezel (1) to the console.
- Install the shifter bezel (1) to the console bezel.
- Install the console front trim (3).
