Removal And Installation: Removal
- Remove the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the rear differential. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Raise the vehicle and using a suitable marking device, mark the position of the crossmember on the rear frame rails (1).
- Support the crossmember (1) with a suitable lifting device and remove the front and rear bolts (2).

Prior to using special tools, lubricate Screw Assembly (special tool #8838-2, Screw Assembly) (1) threads to provide ease of use and promote tool longevity.
NOTE:When installing thrust bearing, be sure to place hardened side toward bolt head.

- Tighten the screw assembly, pressing the isolator out of the crossmember and remove the tools with the isolator.

NOTE:
Prior to using special tools, lubricate Screw Assembly (special tool #8838-2, Screw Assembly) (3) threads to provide ease of use and promote tool longevity.

When installing thrust bearing, be sure to place hardened side toward bolt head.
NOTE:
A mixture of soap and water may be used to aid installation of the isolator.
INSTALLATION
- Assemble tools over isolator as shown.
- (special tool #2046503130, Receiver, Large Bushing Installer) (1)
- (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) (2)
- (special tool #2026900170, Kit, Pressing Tool) (3)
- Center the bushing (2) and press the bushing 1 inch (26 mm) into the cradle (1).
- Once the bushing has been started and is centered into the cradle, remove the installation bushing tool assembly (3).
- Remove the bushing cap (1) from the bushing.
- Install the installation bushing assembly tools making sure the (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) bushing installer tool (1) is installed with the flat surface facing the bushing in order to fully install the bushing in the cradle.
- Install the bushing until fully seated into cradle.
- Verify that the bushing shoulder (2) is fully seated against the cradle (1).
- Remove the (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) and install the bushing cap (3).
- Using the Installation bushing assembly tools with washer (1) and bearing (2) installed, press the bushing cap (3) until fully seated.
- Raise the crossmember back into place and install the bolts.
- Line up the rear crossmember assembly with the marks (1) made during removal.
- Tighten the bolts (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the rear differential. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Tighten Screw Assembly (1) using hand tools , pressing isolator into crossmember. Stop when the isolator bottoms against Remover/Installer, Bushing.
