Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Reset the timing chain tensioner. Refer to RESETTING CAM CHAIN TENSIONER .

  2. Install the engine timing chain tensioner (1) and tighten the bolts (2) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove the pin (1/8 in. drill bit) (3) from the engine timing chain tensioner.
  4. Verify that the valve timing is correct. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Install the engine timing cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to OIL .
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
  8. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check cooling system for correct fluid level. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
NOTE:

The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed using the scan tool anytime there has been a repair/replacement made to a powertrain system, for example: flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors or components.
