Isolator, Front CROSSMEMBER, Frame: Installation

CAUTION:

It is very important that isolator be installed in same position as original to maintain vehicle ride quality and isolator longevity. That is why isolator, once installed, needs to closely match reference marks applied upon removal of original isolator.

  1. Position the isolator (3) on the crossmember (1) isolator bore, aligning the isolator can flange with the reference marks applied during removal.

    NOTE:

    Prior to using the special tool, lubricate (special tool #C-4212F, Press, Ball Joint) (1) threads to provide ease of use and promote tool longevity.

    NOTE:

    A mixture of soap and water may be used to aid installation of the isolator.

  2. Assemble the tools over the isolator as shown.
    • (special tool #C-4212F, Press, Ball Joint) (1)
    • (special tool #9031A, Remover/Installer, Bushing) (2)
    • (special tool #9031-7A, Installer, Bushing) (3)
    • Front Engine Cradle Crossmember (4)
    • Isolator (5)
  3. Tighten (special tool #C-4212F, Press, Ball Joint) (1) screw-drive, pressing the isolator (5) into crossmember (4). Install the isolator until the isolator can flange contacts surface of the crossmember.
  4. Remove the tools.

  5. Install the spacer (1).
  6. Install the engine cradle crossmember (2). Refer to CROSSMEMBER, CRADLE, ENGINE AND SUSPENSION, INSTALLATION .
