Muffler, Exhaust: Installation: Diesel
- Clean all the gasket mating surfaces.
- If removed, install a NEW flange gasket (8).
- If removed, install the resonator/tailpipe assembly (9) onto the muffler/tailpipe assembly (3). Tighten the nuts (7) to 32 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).NOTE:
Muffler installation is a two-man operation. Never allow the muffler to hang from the isolators. A helper is required so no damage will come to the isolators or to the tailpipe/muffler assembly.
- Position the muffler/tailpipe assembly into vehicle connect insulators (2, 4, 5, 6, 10).
- Install the muffler/tailpipe assembly (3) onto the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
- Make sure the muffler/tailpipe assembly is correctly positioned and the properly aligned. The minimum clearance between components is 25 mm (1 inch).
- Tighten the muffler/tailpipe-to-DPF clamp nut (1) to 32 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).
- If equipped, install skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
