Sensor, Oxygen: Removal: 6.2L: Downstream

WARNING:

The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
CAUTION:
When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.

Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2).
Remove the wire harness from the retainer.
Remove the oxygen sensor (1).
Clean the threads in the catalytic converters using an appropriate tap.
