Cover(S), Engine Timing: Installation

NOTE:
Always install a NEW timing cover gasket.
- Clean the timing cover and engine block sealing surfaces.
- Verify that the slide bushings (1) are installed in the timing cover.
- Using a NEW
gasket, install the timing cover and tighten the bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).CAUTION:
To prevent severe damage to the crankshaft, damper, and damper installer, thoroughly clean the damper bore and the crankshaft nose before installing damper.
- Install the generator. Refer to 5.7L
.
- Install the heater tube (2) into the water pump and tighten the bolt (1) to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).
- Install the air cleaner resonator support bracket to the water pump.
- Connect the coolant temperature sensor (3) wire harness connector.
- Install the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) wire harness connector (1).
- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to COMPRESSOR, A/C, INSTALLATION
.
- Install the front oil pan to engine timing cover bolts (1) and tighten to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).
- Connect the lower radiator hose (3) to the radiator and secure the hose clamp (2).
- Connect the lower radiator hose (3) to the water pump and secure hose clamp (1).
- Install the vibration damper. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Install the transmission skid plate. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Install the front suspension skid plate. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Install the front skid plate. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Change the engine oil filter and fill the crankcase with the specified type and amount of engine oil. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - ENGINE OIL SERVICE .
- Connect the battery negative cable.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
