Valve Body: Installation

CAUTION:

The Transmission Control Module (TCM), or Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA) is extremely sensitive to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Always use a ground strap and follow the ESD guidelines in ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE SENSITIVE DEVICES. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the TCM/TCMA.

  1. Install the fluid port (1) with NEW  O-rings (2) and seal (3).

  2. Install the valve body assembly to the transmission using the previously installed (1) (special tool #10379, Pins, Valve Body Alignment) as a guide.
  3. Use an appropriate tool on one of the alignment pins to assist in holding the valve body in position while installing the remaining fasteners.

  4. Install the valve body assembly bolts not including 16-18 and hand tighten.
  5. Remove the pins and install the remaining bolts.

  6. Using (special tool #10377, Remover/Installer, Guide Sleeve) (1) carefully install the wire harness insulator (2) to the transmission case (3).

  7. Lock the wire harness connector lock (2) to the internal wire harness end.
  8. Install the valve body assembly end bolts (3) and hand tighten.

  9. When installing the OSS into the case, take care to position the OSS guide pin as shown below or DAMAGE  to the sensor may result. This is the INCORRECT  alignment of the pin.

  11. Install the speed sensor to the case install the speed sensor bolt (1) and hand tighten.

  12. Tighten the valve body bolts in the sequence shown to 7 Nm (62 in.-lbs.).

  13. If equipped, install the Hydraulic Impulse Oil Storage (HIS) accumulator (1).
  14. Tighten the bolts (2 and 3) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  15. Connect the HIS (1) wire harness connector.

  17. Return the Manual Park Release (MPR) lever (1) to the original position, tighten the MPR lever nut (2) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  18. Connect the Manual Park Release (MPR) cable (1) to the lever (2).

  20. Install the transmission oil pan gasket, the oil pan (2) and the bolts (1).

  21. Tighten the transmission oil pan bolts to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.) + 45° in the sequence shown.

  22. Connect the transmission wire harness connector (1).

  23. Turn the locking mechanism (1) of the transmission wire harness connector clockwise to lock it in place.
  24. If the valve body is replaced, program the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Refer to MODULE PROGRAMMING .
  25. Perform the TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE  .
  26. Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
