VP4 Radio navigation device (ETM) software update
Update the software of the VP4 radio navigation device (ETM - Entertainment Telematic Module) on the vehicles involved, operating as follows.
The software update is carried out using a USB flash drive - with a minimum capacity of 4GB.
To update the application, check for availability of the following tools before starting:
- Personal Computer with Windows© 2000 / Windows© XP / Windows© VISTA / Windows© 7.
- USB flash drive with the manufacturer's certification of compatibility with Windows© 2000 / Windows© XP / Windows© VISTA / Windows© 7 operating systems and a capacity of at least 4GB - formatted as NTFS .
Update software acquisition
- Connect to DealerCONNECT>Assistenza>UCONNECT Information & Utilities> Uconnect Dealer software downloads.
- If the caution message "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?" appears, select NO to continue.NOTE:
The USB flash drive must be empty and contain only the update software. One USB flash drive may be used for several updates.
NOTE:If you are using a USB flash drive that was used for previous updates, it must be formatted again as NTFS to ensure the correct data flow.
NOTE:If you cannot download the update software, make sure you have the necessary security requirements for access.
- Download the software as described below
- Get a USB flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4 GB.
- Download the update software on the desktop of the PC.
- Make sure that the USB flash drive is empty before downloading the file.
- The USB flash drive must be empty. There must be no other software on it.
It is advisable to apply a sticker on the USB flash drive containing the following information:
- Model concerned
- Type of radio
- SW version
Only for pre-delivery vehicles: disable Logistic Mode.
Carry out the radio navigation system update procedure.
Start the engine and leave it running - (safely) - for the duration of the updating.
Then continue as described below:
- Turn on the Radio, if it does not turn on by itself;
- Insert the USB flash drive with the updating software in the port on the central console, in front of the gear lever.
After a few seconds the dialog box will appear on the display.
NOTE:If, after inserting the USB stick, the update does not start automatically within a few tens of seconds, remove the flash drive, format it as FAT32 and copy the files to it again.
NOTE:It is NOT necessary that the user carries out any action or intervention on the device.
NOTE:The version number of the software to be updated, shown in illustration in the following figure, may vary.
- Select "Yes" on the radio display.
The system starts the data Back-Up and the pop-up appears.
After the Back-Up procedure the radio display, for a few seconds, turns black and then white.
When the radio software updating process starts, the window indicating to wait, will appear on the display.
DO NOT remove the USB flash drive.
DO NOT turn the key to Park or OFF.
The status of the update process will be displayed by a progress bar.
DO NOT remove the USB memory stick for any reason.
Upon completion of the software updating procedure the radio reboots and restarts. The Jeep logo will appear on the radio screen for about 1 second.
Subsequently, the disclaimer window will appear on the radio screen.
DO NOT remove the USB flash drive until the display shows again the window with the updated software version number. The dialogue box contains the code of the updated version of the software installed.
- Press "No" on the screen of the radio and remove the USB stick.
- Perform three complete KEY OFF - KEY ON cycles, as described:
- Turn the key to STOP; extract the key; close the doors, if open, close the vehicle with the remote control and wait two minutes.CAUTION:
During this time, it is essential NOT to perform any other intervention on the vehicle.
- Open the vehicle and turn the key to MAR.
Turn on the radio by pressing the ON/OFF button (if it does not turn on automatically).
- The Jeep logo will appear on the radio screen for about 1 second.
- Then the disclaimer window will appear on the radio screen.
- Press the "Accept" button on the display, to continue.
- Wait until the message "Handsfree Available" appears on the radio display and then switch off the radio (either turning the key to STOP position or pressing the ON/OFF button).
- Turn the key to STOP; extract the key; close the doors, if open, close the vehicle with the remote control and wait two minutes.
- Repeat the cycle described above two more times.
- Turn on the radio and then, after the screen with the Jeep logo and the subsequent disclaimer, press the "Settings" button.
- Scroll through the list using the scroll bar and select "System Information".
Check on the "System Information" page that the first line shows the correct software version installed. The procedure does not require any operator intervention.
