Steering Wheel: Notes
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to 2.0L, BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - SINGLE 12V BATTERY SYSTEM or 2.0L, BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL 12 VOLT BATTERY SYSTEM or 2.0L, 12-VOLT BATTERY DISCONNECT/CONNECT - PHEV or 3.0L, BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL 12 VOLT BATTERY SYSTEM or 3.6L, BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL 12 VOLT BATTERY SYSTEM or 3.6L, HYBRID, BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - SINGLE 12V BATTERY SYSTEM or 6.4L, BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - SINGLE 12V BATTERY SYSTEM .
- Remove the driver airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1 - Wire Harness Routing Connectors 2 - Steering Wheel Nut 3 - Wire Harness Routing Connectors - Remove and DISCARD the steering wheel nut.
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors.
- Remove the steering wheel.
- Remove the Electronic Vehicle Information System (EVIC) switches. Refer to SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
NOTE:
Be certain that the steering wheel nut is tightened to the proper torque specification to ensure proper clockspring operation.
- Install a NEW steering wheel nut.
