INSTALLATION

  1. Prepare the rear crossmember and new isolator for installation.
    NOTE:

    Prior to using special tools, lubricate Screw Assembly (special tool #8838-2, Screw Assembly) (3) threads to provide ease of use and promote tool longevity.

    NOTE:

    When installing thrust bearing, be sure to place hardened side toward bolt head.

    NOTE:

    A mixture of soap and water may be used to aid installation of the isolator.

  2. Assemble tools over isolator as shown in illustration.

    2. (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) (2)
    3. (special tool #2026900170, Kit, Pressing Tool) (3)

  3. Center the bushing (2) and press the bushing 1 inch (26 mm) into the cradle (1).
  4. Once the bushing has been started and is centered into the cradle, remove the installation bushing tool assembly (3).

  5. Remove the bushing cap (1) from the bushing.

  6. Install the installation bushing assembly tools making sure the (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) bushing installer tool (1) is installed with the flat surface facing the bushing in order to fully install the bushing in the cradle.

  7. Install the bushing (1) until fully seated into cradle.

  8. Verify that the bushing shoulder (2) is fully seated against the cradle (1).

  9. Remove the (special tool #2046504130, Installer, Large Bushing) and install the bushing cap (3).
  10. Using the Installation bushing assembly tools with washer (1) and bearing (2) installed, press the bushing cap (3) until fully seated.

  11. Raise the crossmember back into place and install the bolts.
  12. Line up the rear crossmember assembly with the marks (1) made during removal.

  13. Tighten the bolts (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  14. Install the rear differential. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  15. Install the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
