Diagnostic Test

CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER AND VERIFY CONDITION IS REPAIRED 

1. Change the engine oil and filter and use the recommended oil for this engine to avoid engine damage due to severe spark knock. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
2. With the scan tool, erase the DTC.
3. Test drive the vehicle to operating temperature.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

   Did the DTC return?

   Yes 

   • Diagnose the engine for any conditions that can cause an extreme spark knock condition.

   No 

   • Changing the oil and filter repaired the vehicle.
