Main Battery: Notes

REMOVAL 

WARNING:

To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of heavy duty rubber gloves should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.

WARNING:

Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.

  1. Position the driver seat fully forward and fully raised.
  2. Remove the left side second row floor distribution duct. Refer to SECOND ROW FLOOR DISTRIBUTION DUCT .
  3. Remove the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS) [EZH], REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT  .
    NOTE:

    On dual battery systems the positive cable end

    MUST 

    be isolated.

  5. Loosen the positive battery cable end nut and remove the positive battery cable.

  6. Remove the battery vent tube.
  7. Remove the nuts from the battery hold-down. Remove the battery hold-down that secures the battery to the tray.

  8. Remove the battery from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle.
