The navigation system uses the DSM to display the map data for a visual display of the vehicle's location on the GPS grid.
The front of the DSM allows for touchscreen input commands to the radio via a short Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) wire harness which is routed from the radio to the DSM and retained by wire harness clips. The back of the DSM houses the wire harness connections necessary for Controller Area Network (CAN) communication, power and ground circuits in one 8-terminal connector and LVDS touchscreen inputs and outputs circuits in the 4-terminal connector.
