Speedometer Unit
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin connector. SeeFigure
. Check for continuity to ground at terminals No. 6, 13 and 16. If continuity exists, repair or replace appropriate wire. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Check that continuity to ground does not exist at terminal No. 15. If continuity does exist, repair or replace that wire. If continuity to ground exists at terminal No. 15, go to next step.
- Disconnect VSS connector. Using a jumper wire, jump VSS connector terminal No. 1 to terminal No. 3. SeeFig 1
. Check that continuity exists between terminal No. 16 and terminal No. 6. at instrument cluster 20-pin connector. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring harness as necessary. If reading indicates continuity, remove jumper wire from VSS. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using a test light check for battery voltage at terminal No. 3 of VSS connector. If battery voltage does not exist, check 15-amp meter fuse and/or wiring harness for an open or short to ground. Repair as necessary. If battery voltage exists, replace VSS.
