Section 20 (Charging System - 2.0L): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Kia Spectra5, 2005 Kia Spectra, and 2004 Kia Spectra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The charging system consists a battery, an alternator with a built-in regulator, and the charging indicator light and wire. The Alternator has built-in diodes, each rectifying AC current to DC current. Therefore, DC current is present at the alternator "B" terminal. Additionally, the alternator and charging voltage is regulated by the battery voltage detection system. The alternator is regulated by the battery voltage detection system. The main components of the alternator are the rotor, stator, rectifier, capacitor, brushes, bearings and V-ribbed belt pulley. The brush holder contains a built-in electronic voltage regulator.
