Ensure starter operates with gearshift lever in "P" or "N" position. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Move gearshift lever to "R" position and verify that back-up lights illuminate. If either operation fails, inspect switch continuity at appropriate terminals. See Fig 1. Replace switch as needed.
