Component Inspection

  1. Ignition "OFF"
  2. Disconnect MAP sensor connector
  3. Measure resistance between terminals "2" and "4" of the MAP sensor connector.
    1. Specification: Approx. 30 kΩ at 20 °C (68 °F)
Fig 1: Measuring Resistance Between Terminals 2 And 4 Of MAP Sensor Connector
      G07330210
  4. Connect MAP sensor connector.
  5. Remove the MAP sensor and Ignition "ON".
  6. Using s hand-held vacuum pump, apply vacuum and measure the "MAP SENSOR" parameter on scantool.
    1. Specification:
      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION CHART

      Applied Vacuum Output Voltage
      10 kPa (100 mbar) 0.06 V
      15 kPa (150 mbar) 0.25 V
      40 kPa (400 mbar) 1.3 V
      80 kPa (800 mbar) 3 V
      120 kPa (1200 mbar) 4.8 V
  7. Is the sensor's signal within specifications?

    YES

    1. Substitute with a known-good PCM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace PCM and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO

    1. Check MAP sensor for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good MAP sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace MAP sensor and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
