Seat Position Sensor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Lexus IS 350 and 2006 Lexus IS 250. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION SENSOR (for Power Seat) 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the negative battery (-) terminal is disconnected.
      CAUTION: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
    3. Using a feeler gauge 1 mm (0.039 in.), install the seat position sensor.
      NOTE:
      • If the seat position sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the seat position sensor with a new one.
      • When installing the seat position sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

      HINT:

      Be sure that a clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to 1.4 mm (0.055 in.).

    4. Using a "torx " socket wrench (T30), tighten the "torx " screw to install the seat position sensor.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

    5. Make sure that a clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) to1.4 mm (0.055 in.).
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the seat position sensor.
    7. Connect the connector.
    8. Install the seat slide position sensor protector to the seat position sensor.
  2. INSTALL SEAT POSITION SENSOR (for Manual Seat) 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the negative battery (-) terminal is disconnected.
      NOTE: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.

  9. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  10. INSTALL VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  11. INSTALL VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB CAP (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  )

  14. INSTALL REAR INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  15. INSTALL REAR OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  16. INSTALL FRONT OUTER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  17. INSTALL FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER (for Manual Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  18. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY 
  19. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (for Manual Seat) 
  20. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (See INITIALIZATION ).

      HINT:

      Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

  21. INSPECT FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  22. INSPECT FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) 
  23. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light (PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
