Monitor SCANTOOL Data

  1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
  3. Monitor the "CAN" parameters on the scantool.
    • Check "Transaxle type, Torque control request, etc" at the ECU service data mode.
    • Check "TPS, RPM, IDLE STATE, etc" at the TCU service data mode.
  4. Are the parameters displayed correctly?

    YES

    • Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM/PCM's connector or was repaired and ECM/PCM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure..

    NO

    • Substitute with a known-good ECM/PCM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECM/PCM and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NOTE: There is a memory reset function on scantool that can erase optional parts automatically detected and memorized by ECM/PCM.
Before or after testing ECM/PCM on the vehicle, use this function to reuse the ECM/PCM
