SERVICE INFORMATION

NOTE: This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated below.
This bulletin provides the procedure on how to identify and record the head unit software level on various head unit platforms and generations. This procedure is now mandatory when ordering head units through the Direct Exchange Program (see Parts Bulletin MI-0042 0001).
NOTE: On navigation (AVN) head units, the Map Version must also be recorded and supplied when ordering a replacement head unit.

NOTE: All remanufactured stock will be upgraded, prior to shipment, as improved software is, or becomes, available (dealers will not stock head units which, in some cases, resulted in installing a head unit with outdated software).

Display Audio 2.0 9 7" touchscreen with "Custom" ( ) button. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatible. No native voice recognition and no SiriusXM radio. Application began on 19MY Sorento (UMa).
UVO 1.0 ~ 2.0 10 4.3" touchscreen with "JUKEBOX" or "eSERVICES" button. Application for UVO 1.0 began on 11MY Optima Hybrid (TF HEV). Application for UVO 2.0 began on 14MY Soul (PS).
UVO 3.0 11 7" touchscreen display, with "Apps" ( ) button. Newer model vehicles may have a "Custom" ( ) button instead of the "Apps" button and visually may look very similar to the Display Audio 2.0.
Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatible. No navigation & SD card slot.
Application with "Apps" button began on 17MY Sportage (QL).
Application with "Custom" button began on 19MY Sorento (UMa).
AVN 1.5 ~ 2.0 12 7" touchscreen with navigation with "FM/AM" and "SETUP" buttons. Application of AVN 1.5 began on several 09MY vehicles.
AVN 3.0 13 7" touchscreen with navigation and button. Application began on 14MY Sorento (XMa).
AVN 4.0 14 8" touchscreen with "MAP VOICE" button & SD card. Application began on 14MY Soul (PS).
AVN 5.0 15 8" touchscreen with "Custom" ( ) button, SD Card slot, "Nav" ( ), & "Map" ( ) buttons. Application began on 18MY Sportage (QL) and 18MY Optima (JFa).
AVN 5.0 WIDE 16 10.25" touchscreen similar to AVN 5.0 just wider screen and No SD card slot Application began on 20MY Telluride (ON), Soul (SK3) and Seltos (SP2)

BASE AUDIO - GEN 1.5 ~ 2.0

  1. With the head unit OFF, press preset buttons "1"  and "4"  simultaneously for 3 seconds
  2. Immediately after releasing preset buttons "1"  and "4"  , press preset button "1"  four (4) times in quick succession.

  1. With the head unit OFF, press preset buttons "1"  and "4"  simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  2. Immediately after releasing preset buttons "1"  and "4"  , press preset button "1"  four times in quick succession.

    If the head unit has a "toggle style" preset button layout, press preset buttons "1" and "5" instead, simultaneously, for 3 seconds. Then, press preset button "1" four times in quick succession.

  1. With the head unit OFF, press and hold the SEEK/TRACK DOWN ( )  button and the CAT/FOLDER UP ( )  button, simultaneously, for three (3) seconds.
