Repair Procedures: Replacement

NOTE:

Be sure to perform the MDPS motor inspection procedure before replacing the MDPS motor.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery and then wait for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Remove the crash pad lower panel.
  3. After loosening the mounting screws, then remove the steering column shroud lower panel (A).

  5. Disconnect all connectors (A) connected to the steering column.

  7. Remove the steering column (C) by loosening the mounting bolt (B-1ea) and nut (A-2ea).
  8. Tightening torque :

    (A) 2.7 - 17.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.8 kgf.m, 9.4 - 13.0 lb.ft)

    (B) 44.1 - 49.0 N.m (4.5 - 5.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 36.2 lb.ft)

  9. Loosen the MDPS motor bolts (A) and then remove the MDPS motor.

  11. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  12. Conduct the "ASP Calibration" by GDS. (Refer to MDPS Motor - "Diagnosis with GDS ")
  13. Turn off the IGN switch and wait for 10 seconds or more. Then check the operation after starting the engine.
