Repair Procedures: Removal

[Lambda Engine] 

  1. If the compressor is marginally operable, run the engine at idle speed, and let the air conditioning work for a few minutes, then shut the engine off.
  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/charging station.
  4. Remove the transmission under cover (A).
  5. Remove the engine room under cover (B).

  6. Loosen the drive belt.

    (Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")

  7. Remove the bolts, then disconnect the suction line and discharge line from the compressor.

    Tightening Torque: 

    9.8 ~ 14.7 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.5 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 10.8 lb-ft)

    NOTE: Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.
  8. Disconnect the compressor switch connector (A).

  9. Remove the compressor by loosening the mounting bolts.

    [Tau Engine] 

    1. If the compressor is marginally operable, run the engine at idle speed, and let the air conditioning work for a few minutes, then shut the engine off.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/charging station.
    4. Remove the cooling fan.

      (Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLING FAN ")

    5. Loosening the drive belt.

      (Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")

    6. Remove the transmission under cover (A).
    7. Remove the engine room under cover (B).

    8. Loosening the compressor under mounting bolt (A).

    9. Remove the front wheel and tire [LH] (A) from front hub.

    10. Loosening the bolt (B) and clip (C) then remove the side bracket (A).

    11. Loosening the compressor rear mounting bolt (A).

    12. Loosening the nuts (A) and then disconnect the suction hose (B) and discharge hose (C).

    13. After disconnect the ECV connector (A), loosening the compressor upper mounting bolt (B).

    14. Remove the compressor assembly (A) as in the picture below.

      CAUTION:
      • When remove the compressor, be careful not to damage the condenser.

      Information 

      • Mount section
      • Upper mounting bolt (A), under mounting bolt (B), rear mounting bolt (C).
