Repair Procedures: Removal

[Lambda Engine]
- If the compressor is marginally operable, run the engine at idle speed, and let the air conditioning work for a few minutes, then shut the engine off.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/charging station.
- Remove the transmission under cover (A).
- Remove the engine room under cover (B).
- Loosen the drive belt.
(Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")
- Remove the bolts, then disconnect the suction line and discharge line from the compressor.
Tightening Torque:
9.8 ~ 14.7 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.5 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 10.8 lb-ft)
NOTE: Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination. - Disconnect the compressor switch connector (A).
- Remove the compressor by loosening the mounting bolts.

[Tau Engine]
- If the compressor is marginally operable, run the engine at idle speed, and let the air conditioning work for a few minutes, then shut the engine off.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/charging station.
- Remove the cooling fan.
(Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLING FAN ")
- Loosening the drive belt.
(Proceed to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")
- Remove the transmission under cover (A).
- Remove the engine room under cover (B).
- Loosening the compressor under mounting bolt (A).
- Remove the front wheel and tire [LH] (A) from front hub.
- Loosening the bolt (B) and clip (C) then remove the side bracket (A).
- Loosening the compressor rear mounting bolt (A).
- Loosening the nuts (A) and then disconnect the suction hose (B) and discharge hose (C).
- After disconnect the ECV connector (A), loosening the compressor upper mounting bolt (B).
- Remove the compressor assembly (A) as in the picture below.
CAUTION:
- When remove the compressor, be careful not to damage the condenser.
