Repair Procedures: Inspection
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the mode control actuator connector.
- Verify that the mode control actuator operates to the defog mode when connecting 12V to the terminal 3 and grounding terminal 7.
Verify that the mode control actuator operates to the vent mode when connecting in the reverse.
- Connect the mode control actuator connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between terminal 6 and 5.VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION
Door position Voltage (V) Error detecting Vent 0.3 ± 0.15 Low voltage: 0.1V or less Defrost 4.7 ± 0.15 High voltage: 4.9V or more It will feedback the current position of the actuator to the controls.
- If the measured voltage is not within specification, substitute with a known-good mode control actuator and check for proper operation.
- Replace the mode control actuator if it is proved that there is a problem with it.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the auto defogging connector.
- Verify that the auto defogging actuator operates to the open position when connecting 12V to the terminal 3 and grounding terminal 7.
Verify that the auto defogging actuator operates to the close position when connecting in the reverse.
- Connect the auto defogging actuator connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 5.VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION
Door position Voltage (V) Error detecting Defog OFF (Close) 4.7 ± 0.15 High voltage: 4.9V or more Defog ON (Open) 1.7 ± 0.15 Low voltage: 0.1V or less It will feedback the current position of the actuator to the controls.
- If the measured voltage is not within specification, substitute with a known-good auto defogging actuator and check for proper operation.
- Replace the auto defogging actuator if it is proved that there is a problem with it.
