Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Set the front tires straight-ahead before assembling the steering wheel.
    NOTE: If the steering wheel and the front tires are not set straight ahead together, the number of circulation of steering wheel may be affected or the cable inside the clock spring may be damaged.
  2. Check for disconnected the battery negative terminal.
    NOTE: After disconnecting the cables, wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Check for neutral state of clock spring.

    NOTE:
    • Factory setting for the clock spring is neutral.
    • If the clock spring is not set neutral, it may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
    • Damage to the clock spring may cause electric malfunctions in airbag warning lamp, horn, handsfree, auto cruise, heated wire and heated steering, and noise from turning the steering wheel.
    • If the clock spring is not neutral, perform the neutral adjustment procedure.

    Neutral Adjustment Procedure 

    1. Push the auto-lock button placed at the 6 o'clock position and turn it clockwise until it stops.

    2. Push the auto-lock button (A) and turn approximately 3.15 rotations counter-clockwise.

    3. With the white cable (A) visible in the neutral check window, match the neutral mark (B).

  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  5. After installing the clock spring, confirm proper system operation:

    Switch "ON" the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about six seconds and then off.
