Repair Procedures: Replacement

Information
When removing and installing the tail gate, work in a group of two or more.
- Remove the tail gate upper trim.
(Refer to Tail Gate - "TAIL GATE UPPER TRIM ")
- Remove the tail gate side trim.
(Refer to Tail Gate - "TAIL GATE SIDE TRIM ")
- Remove the tail gate trim.
(Refer to Tail Gate - "TAIL GATE TRIM ")
- Disconnect the washer nozzle hose (A) and high mounted stop lamp connector (B).
- Disconnect the connectors and tail gate wiring harness (A).
- Loosen the ground bolts (B).
- After loosening the mounting bolts, remove the tail gate assembly (C).
Tightening torque:
21.6~26.5 N.m (2.2~2.7 kgf.m, 15.9~19.5 lb-ft)
- Remove the mounting clip (B) and then remove the tail gate lifter (A).
Tightening torque:
6.9~10.8 N.m (0.7~1.1 kgf.m, 5.1~8.0 lb-ft)
Information
- Power tail gate type
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "PTG SPINDLE ")
- Remove the lifter (D) from the bracket (C) by lifting the socket clip (B) gently with a flat head screwdriver (A).
- Power tail gate type
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
- Make sure that the tail gate locks/unlocks and opens/closes properly.
- Adjust the tail gate alignment.
- Make sure that the connectors are connected properly.
- Replace any damaged clips.
