DTC C1702-46: Variant Coding Error: General Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) is designed to warn the driver when the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane (unless turn signal is on in that direction) on freeways and streets. The LDWS uses video camera module, it detects the road markings and warns the driver if the vehicle starts to drift out of the driving lane if the turn signal is not on.
LDWS has limited lane recognition capabilities when it comes to sharp-bending roads, no or faded lane markings, low visibility due to foul weather conditions, low light or sudden change in exterior light condition, sidewalks and other dividing structures along the edge of the lane, or dirty windshield but not only limited to these conditions.
