Repair Procedures: Replacement

CAUTION: Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.

NOTE:

When removing with a flat-tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.
Take care not to scratch the body surface.

Remove the tailgate lower trim.
(Refer to Tailgate - "TAILGATE TRIM ")
Disconnect the tailgate latch connector (A).

After loosening the mounting bolts, remove the tailgate latch (A).
Tightening torque:

6.9 - 10.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.1 Kgf.m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb.ft, 60.8 - 95.5 lb.in)

To install, reinstall in reverse order of removal procedure.
NOTE:
- Make sure the tailgate locks/unlocks and opens/closes properly.
- Adjust the tailgate alignment.
- Make sure the connectors are connected in properly.
