Front Brake Disc Thickness Check

- Check the brake pads for wear and fade.
- Check the brake disc for damage and cracks.
- Remove all rust and contamination from the surface, and measure the disc thickness at 8 points, at least, of same distance (5mm) from the brake disc outer circle.
Front Brake Disc Thickness
- -16 inch Standard: 25 mm (0.98 in)
- -16 inch Service limit: 23 mm (0.90 in)
- 18 inch Standard: 30 mm (1.18 in)
- -18 inch Service limit: 28 mm (1.10 in)
DTV (Disc Thickness Variation):
Circumference direction: Less than 0.005 mm (0.00020 in.)
Radial direction: Less than 0.010 mm (0.00040 in.)
- If the measured DTV larger than the limit and thickness thicker than the service limit of the disc, skim the brake disc.NOTE:
- Skim the disc according the the method of using each skimming lathe. (On-car mounting or external device)
- Do not skim the brake disc when it reaches the service limit.
- If the brake disc is thinner than the service limit, replace the brake disc.
