- Install the new O-ring (A).NOTE: The O-ring is not reused.
- Install the timing chain cover.
- Be sure to remove hardened sealants, foreign substances, oil, dust, moisture, etc. on the liquid gasket sealing surface (cam carrier, cylinder head, cylinder block, low crankcase). Spray the cleaner on the sealing surface and wipe with a clean cloth.
- Apply sealant for liquid gasket to the interface between cam carrier, cylinder head, cylinder block and low crankcase.
Width: 3.0 - 5.0 mm (0.11 - 0.20 in.)
sealant: MS721 - 40AA or equivalent
- After applying liquid sealant to the timing chain cover, assemble the cover within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.

- Install the timing chain cover (A) relative to the dowel pin of the cylinder block and the hole In the timing chain cover.
Tightening torque:
Bolts (A, B, C, D):
18.6-23.5 N.m(1.9-2.4kgf.m, 13.7-17.4 lb.ft)
Bolts (E, F):
39.2 - 49.0 N.m(4.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 36.2 lb.ft)
NOTE: The engine running or pressure test should not be performed within 30 minutes after the timing chain cover was assembled. - Replace the front oil seal if necessary.
(Refer to " Replacement ")
- Install the violet force solenoid (VFS) valve (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8-11.8 N.m (1.0-1.2 kgf.m, 7.2-8.7 lb.ft)
NOTE:- Do not reuse the VFS valve if it has been dropped.
- When installing the VFS valve, install it with attention to the following points.
- Renew the VFS valve O-ring and apply engine oil to the new O-ring.
- Tighten the VFS valve to the end of the timing chain mounting surface and attach the bolts.
- Tighten the VFS valve to the specified torque.
- Install the other parts reverse order of removal.
- Fill with engine oil.
(Refer to " Replacement ")
- Fill with coolant.
(Refer to " Replacement And Air Bleeding ")
NOTE: Refill the coolant according to the Integrated Flow Control Valve (ITM) coolant filling method.
