Failure Check-Up Elements: Notes

The following is to be checked before inspecting the Power Sliding Door system parts.

  1. Manual operation

Check if the sliding door operates manually. Shift to 'OFF' from the Overhead console switch. Check if the door is installed properly by moving it manually, and check the latch load. Check for any interfering objects with other parts including latch striker, trim and weather seal.

  2. Vehicle battery voltage

Check if the battery is fully charged. Power Sliding Door is an electric component and requires minimal battery voltage for operation. Check for battery voltage of PSDM, and if the voltage is beyond the required minimal range, control the operation.

  3. Fuse

Three fuses detect and protect of power supply of PSDM. Two of them controls motive power while the other controls program. Check if these fuses are connected properly.

When one or two motive power fuse are damaged, the vehicle status will become 'Sleep', & 'Wake-up', and there will be 'B24AE' which means fuse damage of the power sliding door module, and the operation will be halted.

  4. Repetition

Check if the owner of the car has operated the Power Sliding Door repeatedly while the vehicle's ignition is turned off. If the battery is discharged, PSDM's power operation will be controlled.

  5. Operation on a steep ramp

Check if the Power Sliding Door was frequently operated while the vehicle was parked on a steep ramp of over 17 degrees. Operating the power sliding door on a steep ramp may result in malfunctions due to gravity or damage the condition of the car (tilted or curved).

  6. Detection of obstacles

Obstacle detection cannot be adjusted. Elements that affect obstacle detection include tilting, battery voltage, and dust jammed in sliding door track.

  7. Outer handle response time

When the car is parked and the ignition is turned off, there might be delay after outer handle is pulled before the power operation. This is due to a required period as PSDM is prepared before the power open operation, checking for normal operation which is not a problem.

  8. Difference between right and left door operation

The operation of sliding doors may differ. Time for opening and closing, and obstacle detection can differ between right and left doors.

  9. Failure analysis equipment

Connect the analysis device to OBD terminal and inspect the power sliding door.

(Power sliding door can use B-CAN, but BCM acts as a gateway, and can communicate through C-CAN.)
