Component Inspection: Notes

Inspection Procedure 

Visual inspection

1. Immerse thermostat in water heated to over 95°C (203°F), then heat for at least 3 minutes to check valve lift.

   NOTE: Do not immerse connector part.
2. Check the valve opening temperature.

   Valve opening temperature: 

   100 ± 2°C (212±3.6°F)

   Full opening temperature:  113°C (235°F)

   If the valve opening temperature is not as specified, replace the thermostat.

3. Check the valve lift.

   Valve lift:  8 mm (0.3150 in.) or more at 113°C (235°F)

   If the valve lift is not as specified, replace the thermostat.

• Specification:  8 mm (0.3150 in.) or more at 113°C (235°F)

  Good 

  • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
  • If no problems were found, replace the Thermostat and go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.

  No Good 

  • Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
